Mosaic 1898 Direct Payments Support Service are assisting a young autistic person to recruit either an employed PA or self-employed PA, to enhance her day to day, living with chronic fatigue syndrome and asthma. (ambulatory wheelchair user)
There are family dogs and guinea pigs in the home.
The post is initially for 3 hours a week, with intention to gradually increase.
The role will be to assist to access a range of interests both inside and out of the home, - crafting, Role playing gaming, reading, anime, manga etc. Also to encourage developing skills in activities of daily living such as cooking, shopping, appointments etc. We are looking for someone who enjoys similar interests and is comfortable around the animals.
Neurodivergent individuals welcome to apply. A car owner is desirable but not essential, however without the car, it will involve pushing a wheelchair for further distances. Day/times to be arranged with employer, flexibility for the right candidate.
Person Specification
A caring and patient approach is more important than experience. You will be reliable and trustworthy with the commitment to accept responsibility. You will be comfortable to work on own and with initiative if necessary. You will always be diligent and conscientious.
- To escort and aid going out and pursing interests and social activities
- To support with developing independence and life skills
- To encourage and support with interests, including crafting, role-playing games/world building games, reading, anime, manga, etc
- Assistance packing wheelchair in/out car
- Assistance with shopping and associated tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
The PA would be expected to arrive to shift on time and if there is a delay, the individual is notified as soon as possible.
