Creating Opportunities: 

day services, PMLD support and leisure opportunities 

for disabled adults. 

 

Our Creating Opportunities provision aspires to enhance the lives of disabled adults through meaningful activities, and accessible pursuits where people develop life skills, build relationships, and share experiences. 

We provide adult day services, accessible boat trips, and disability friendly holidays for adults living with Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, dementia, and any other life limiting health condition. 

Creating Opportunities:  Adult Day Services 

We run fun-filled and live enhancing adult day services every weekday in Leicester and Leicestershire.

 

There is something for everyone with almost 30 groups to choose. Every group is personalised to meet the needs of the people who attend and the outcomes they want to achieve.   

 

Our adult day services runs from Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00am and running through to 3:00pm.

 

As a recognised and established framework provider we accept referrals from Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, and the NHS, we welcome self-referrals too. 

 

Our passionate frontline and office teams are experienced in supporting adults with mild to the most complex of needs.

We strive to be truly inclusive and work with local partners to deliver accessible opportunities and life experiences everyday - from crafting, baking, and picnics in the park to roller-skating, bell-boating, and outdoor pursuits like zip-wiring and abseiling.

Creating Opportunities:  PMLD Support

We're proud to be able to support and meet the needs of adults living with Profound Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in environments that are fully equipped and enable outstanding care. 

 

Our offices at Oak Spinney Park are fully accessible, with adaptable spaces, Changing Places, and an exceptional multi sensory room complete with a ceiling track hoist. 

It is our passion support those with complex needs to access a meaningful and enjoyable service without the limits often placed on their day-to-day life. Our teams are trained and experienced in providing personal care, managing health conditions, and support with eating, drinking, or tube feeding. 

 

We work to create opportunities and experience that build on the the principles of strength-based care, person-centred planning, and positive-risk taking - by doing this we enable the people we support to get the very best out of life, while ensuring dignity and respect in every interaction. 

Creating Opportunities: Boat Trips

Our wonderful 55-foot wide-beam canal boat is one of the pride and joys of our charity.

 

Sunbeam II, was designed, built, fundraiser for by our volunteers in 2018, the boat is adapted and purpose-built with disabled people in mind.

We have been taking to the waters of the Grand Union Canal since 1972. Today, you can hire our boat and enjoy the very same waters between Wanlip and Syston with our skippers and crew. Our boat trips offer a lovely day out north towards Mount Sorrell, or south towards Birstall.

 

Sunbeam II has a capacity of up to 12 passengers, with a maximum of 4 wheelchair users on every voyage.

We welcome seasonal day trips and shorter evening cruises on weekdays from April through to October. You can book as a group or join others on a shared voyage as a solo traveller or smaller group.

Your trip will typically depart from The Hope and Anchor at 10:00am and return by 4:00pm. Timings can be adjusted to suit your needs.


You can choose between a pub lunch, a fish and chip stop, or you can bring a picnic to enjoy on board. we'll be on hand to arrange this for you at the time of your booking. 

Please note: if you have any care needs, you will need to book with your own companion, while our skippers and crew will keep you safe and ensure you have a wonderful time, they are unable to provide any personal care. 

Pricing: Join as a solo traveller from as little as £10 or book the entire boat for the day for just £120.

Creating Opportunities: Holiday Homes 

There's nothing quite like a holiday to the seaside.

Our fully accessible self-catering holiday homes provide disabled people, their families and their carers with a get away that is a home away from home.

Situated in the grounds of Overstrand Hall on the North Norfolk coast, you'll be just two miles from the popular Cromer Pier. 

We offer two homes to choose from, 'The Fairway' and 'The Links', named aptly as they overlook the stunning Royal Cromer Golf Club with sea views beyond. 

 

Our homes sleep up to 6 guests and are fully equipped with; electric profiling beds; low level kitchens with fridges, freezers, ovens, hobs, and microwaves; laundry facilities with washing machines, dryers and washing stations; large open bathrooms with walk-in showers and baths; comfy living rooms with riser and recliner chairs, tables and trolleys; a choice of ceiling-track or manual-operated hoists; other mobility aids like rotundas, commodes, toilet seat raisers, handrails, grabrails, shower seats and more; and to top it off Smart TVs and WiFi. 

Parking is available on site, and assistance dogs are welcome. 

We're open throughout the year and offer peak and off peak week-long stays at our holiday homes. You'll check-in from 3:00pm on Saturday and we invite you to make yourself at home until check-out at 10:00am the following Saturday.

Pricing: In the off-season (30th October to 19th March), book either bungalow for the week for just £260 or visit the North Norfolk Coast in the peak-season (20th March to 29th October) and stay with us for a week for just £360.
