What is a DBS Check?
A DBS check (previously known as a CRB check) is a vetting process for employers who want to ensure their employees are suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.
In some industries where Regulated Activity is undertaken, DBS checks are mandatory.
The check searches through criminal records held by the police and other national and regional databases to provide relevant information to help employers make fully informed decisions at recruitment.
The DBS process also helps to reduce risk to employers, organisation, its employees, and the vulnerable people they support. You should never discriminate against anyone based on their DBS check, but use it with other qualifying or selection criteria to make your decision.

There are three levels of DBS checks, we'll be on hand to help you choose the right check for you.
Basic DBS: this check provides details of any unspent convictions.
Standard DBS: this check includes information on both spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings.
Enhanced DBS: the most comprehensive check, which includes everything in the Standard check, as well as any additional information held by local police that is considered relevant to the role being applied for. This is typically required for positions involving work with children or vulnerable adults.
