Learning Disability Week 2018

This year, Learning Disability Week (18th – 24th June) was all about health - with a big focus on Mencap’s Treat me well campaign.

On Wednesday 20th June, the members of We Think, mosaic’s advocacy group, along with Local Leaders worked together with the Learning Disability Acute liaison Nurses and student Nurses from De Montfort University to campaign across all three hospitals in Leicester, raising awareness of people with a Learning Disability and the importance of making reasonable adjustments within hospitals, such as clear communication, easy read information and more time.

We spoke to health professionals and asked them to sign up to the Treat Me Well Campaign and we are pleased to announce that 78 Health Professionals signed to be Health Champions. If you would like to support the Treat Me Well Campaign you can go to the Mencap website: www.mencap.org.uk According to the Royal Mencap Society, Learning Disability Week was tremendously successful in promoting the Treat Me Well Campaign.
