Direct Payments Support Service COLOUR 6

About Direct Payments

Direct payments give you the choice to decide what support you receive and where you get that support from. They do this by giving you the money from your personal budget to pay for services or for someone to support you.

You can choose how much of your personal budget you want to receive as a direct payment and can use that money to pay for any service that is legal and meets your eligible needs.

Examples of things you can pay for with your direct payment include:

·        Care to help you live on your own.

·        A personal assistant to support you.

·        Equipment that helps to meet your eligible needs.

Qualifying for direct payments

You can ask for a direct payment if:

·        You have a personal budget.

·        You can make decisions for yourself.

·        You can manage a direct payment.

·        A direct payment will help to meet your needs.
