Creating Opportunities COLOUR 600dpi.png

Our incredibly wide-ranging one-to-one and group activities have all been shaped by the amazing people who have accessed our services over the last 120+ years and who continue to lead us to creative and meaningful spaces of opportunity.

Working from our purpose-built centre and also in many community venues across Leicestershire, we provide life-enhancing, person-centred activities and services promoting inclusion and enjoyment. Our capable and creative community of staff and volunteers are committed to putting fun and connection at the heart of all we do. We aim to offer everyone the chance to try new things, connect through shared experiences and lead us in how our services can grow and adapt.

Adult Day Services

We aim to open up the resources needed for people to better access their community and have their contribution and presence valued. From supported vocational activities (like shopping, cooking and gardening) to creative and adventurous pursuits (like concerts, art, leisure activities and exploring the outdoors), we try to tap into what you as an individual enjoy and want to be a part of. There are numerous sessions running across the county and we’d love to hear what you’d like to try out!

Children’s Services

We welcome children and their support networks to structured and unstructured times at our fully accessible centre in Leicester. We aim to create safe spaces for families to connect, have fun and share experiences and support.  We provide stimulating and quiet spaces as needed and activity sessions (from supported time in our multi-sensory room to discos, craft classes, exercise sessions and community access). Supporting young people to grow in friendships, confidence and independence in a wide range of settings (including leisure centres, outdoor pursuits centres and times exploring the community) while having fun is central to what we do.

It is a privilege to facilitate so many local people with a disability each year to experience the sense of enjoyment, relaxation and freedom on the water that sailing brings. Our qualified Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors and committed volunteers are highly experienced in creating a safe environment for supported sailing and also in helping others to learn skills for more independent sailing.

Operating from April to October, we have five robust dinghies, specifically designed not to capsize, for safety. A floating pontoon with a specialist hoist to help you in and out of the dinghy is available if required. We provide life jackets and a safety boat is always on the water while people are sailing.

River Trips

We are proud to continue to offer relaxing day trips (since 1972) on the Grand Union Canal on our brand new, fully accessible wide-beam boat: Sunbeam II. Designed and all funds raised by our incredible community of volunteers, this boat has a special place at the heart of Mosaic 1898. Sunbeam II has the capacity to accommodate up to 12 passengers a time, including up to 4 passengers with wheelchairs.

Accessible Holidays

Our two fully furnished, spacious bungalows set in the beautiful green grounds of Overstrand Hall near Cromer - on the north Norfolk coast - welcome families and their friends all year round. Guests continue to enjoy their self-catered getaways with many returning to make new memories time and time again.

There are local care agencies available should you require support. Each bungalow is fully accessible, spacious and well equipped to cater for a variety of needs (including ceiling track hoist, electric profiling bed, walk-in shower, bath, clinical waste disposal and oxygen delivery).  Each bungalow can sleep up to 6 people. Bookings are taken for blocks of a week.

For more information, get in touch. We’d love to share more about these lovely spaces and the opportunities they bring for life-enhancing experiences.

It’s so hard to capture all there is to offer with words! We invite anybody who is interested to get in touch and to come and see us (or we can come to see you). We’d love to listen to what you need, to what brings you alive and to do our best to connect you with opportunities to inspire you (and your community through you).
