We’re committed to empowering disabled people by promoting choice, respect, and dignity. Our range of Liberty, Advocacy and Voice services help us to do just that.
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
As a charity, we strive to provide as much support as possible that helps promote inclusion, equality, independence, and dignity for disabled people, even if it doesn’t fit into our four main service categories. That’s why we created our ‘Other Services’ category page – a space to learn about all of the other things we can provide to support you.
RADAR keys are large, silver-coloured door keys that unlock toilets covered by the National Key Scheme.
Used by more than 400 local authorities and many organisations like shops, cafes, restaurants and train stations, the National Key Scheme gives you access to more than 10,000 accessible toilets across the UK through the use of RADAR keys.
Keys are available from just £3 and you don’t need to provide proof of disability to get one.
As a registered umbrella body, we can carry out standard or enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks on your behalf. DBS checks help make sure that anyone working with vulnerable people does not have a criminal record.
Price per check
Volunteers (standard or enhanced)...£12
Standard (paid worker)...£38
Enhanced (paid worker)...£56
You might need to arrange a DBS check if you employ someone either as a personal assistant using direct payments or if you employ workers or volunteers who work with vulnerable people. For more information on who needs a DBS check, please click here or speak to a member of our team by calling 0116 231 8720.
