Senior Support Worker

Responsible to: Board of Trustees via the Registered Manager of ColtonCare and the Independent Life Project.

Responsible for: Community Assistants and Support Workers in conjunction with the Registered Manager

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary Grade: NJC Scale 4 points 18-21

Main Responsibilities of the Post

To work with the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth and professional running of ColtonCare and Independent Life Project Domiciliary Care Agency.

Key Tasks

  • To be responsible for managing rotas for Community Assistants and Support Workers
  • To be responsible for managing annual leave of staff
  • To provide, with the Registered Manager, quarterly supervision of all Community Assistants and Support Workers, carry out Probationary Reviews and Annual Reviews and to hold regular staff meetings
  • To support the Registered Manager in ensuring all CQC regulations are met
  • To cover for the Registered Manager while on holiday or sick leave
  • To carry out initial meetings with customers about their support needs, drawing up and agreeing support plans and reviewing them with the customer on a regular basis
  • To carry out risk assessments for customers
  • To share the 24 hour duty phone as agreed with the Registered Manager (there is an extra payment for this)
  • To deliver, where necessary, care packages where no other option is available
  • To work with the newly appointed Administrative officer to ensure time sheets, invoices, payroll and expenses are processed efficiently
  • Any other task that is appropriate to this job and the quality of care to be delivered by ColtonCare and Independent Life Project

General

  • To work to all policies, procedures and guidelines of mosaic
  • To attend staff meetings and line management supervision as required.
  • To undertake any other duties requested by the Director and/or the Board of Trustees.
  • To work with other staff to promote mosaic and its work

Personnel Specification

Essential Criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Care or a willingness to train
  • Experience of providing personal care to vulnerable adults in a domiciliary care setting
  • Clear and concise record keeping/report writing
  • Understanding of the requirements of Care Quality Commission, General Social Care Council Code of Conduct, National Occupational Standards.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding Adults Policy
  • Ability to work with professionals in other agencies.
  • Ability to develop an excellent rapport with customers with a commitment to delivering best practice
  • Ability to prioritise work
  • Administrative and computer skills
  • Flexibility
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries

Desirable Criteria

  • Ability to speak an Asian Language

Senior Support Worker

A vacancy has arisen in ColtonCare, mosaic Domiciliary Care Agency, for a Senior Support Worker. The main post holder will support the Registered Manager initially in preparing rotas, interviewing new customers, agreeing and reviewing support plans, supervision and support staff. Initially the Senior Support Worker may be carrying out some care. From mid-March there will be an Administrative Officer who will take the main responsibility for rotas and the focus of the post will be about recruiting and supporting new customers.

ColtonCare is a relatively new and growing service within mosaic and this post will be part of the team that will lead that team in a time of changing social care services.

Administrative Assistant

ColtonCare is the name for the community part of our domiciliary care agency. ColtonCare is registered with the Care Quality Commission. Established in April 2009 ColtonCare has expanded and we are now in a position to appoint an Administrative Assistant (20 hours a week but may increase in the future) for ColtonCare to work with Tagtronics, an IT Care Manager package, in order to invoice customers, rota staff, do payroll, calculate annual leave and any other tasks appropriate to the post.
