Working Together 4 Change

Working Together for Change is a joint initiative between mosaic: shaping disability services, Just Services and Self Advocacy in Action. We received a small grant through Leicestershire County Council’s Personalisation Provider Development Grant scheme. With this we ran a series of FREE taster events as part of a move to personalised social care services.

The Taster Events proved to be very successful. We found out a lot about the things people would like to do in the future. Some things came as a surprise. A number of people wanted to set up a Knitting Group. Photography proved to be very popular. We received a second grant from Leicester City. From this we developed a Love Leicester project where people took advantage of all the facilities in Leicester.

From these two schemes we have decided to continue working together in order to share resources, ideas, experiences and staffing. We are going to organise a Christmas fair on 26th November 2011 to raise money to develop services for people who may no longer be eligible for services. This money will make services more afforable. The Christmas Fair will be opened by Matt Hampson, former England Rugby Player.

From WorkingTogether4Change a knitting group is being set up in Clarenden Park. In the Autumn a new photography Group will be set up.
